Revolt against the incumbent BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba saw its first casualty as the party sus-pended four of its leaders on the issue today.
In a press conference held at Nityaipat Chuthek party office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Salam Ibohal announced suspension of former Minister and former vice-president Salam Rajen of Lamshang AC, former vice-president Yumnam Khemchand of Singjamei AC, active member Nao-roibam Kapu (Ratan) of Heinganag AC and State Executive member Mong-jam Poireihanba (Poirei) of Lamshang AC.
They have been suspended from the party with immediate effect for indulging in anti-party activities and lobbying with the Central party leaders to change the present State unit president.
Ibohal said that ever since NDA returned to power, the suspended leaders have been camping in New Delhi to lobby with the Central leaders on the issue, which according to Ibohal is a violation of the disciplinary norms of the party.
Ibohal cautioned that BJP Manipur Pradesh would not hesitate in taking action ag-ainst those party leaders and workers who indulge in similar activities in the future.
He said that as the current president still has his tenure till 2015 .
It was not right to camp in Delhi to lobby with the Central party leaders on the issue of changing the State unit president for around two months.
Regarding show cause notice, Ibohal said that show cause notice is generally served after suspension in BJP organisation.
Meanwhile, information received from New Delhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah is likely to take over the charge of the National party president as the current president Rajnath Singh has been inducted into Modi's Cabinet as the Home Minister.
Likewise, Thounaojam Chaoba might be replaced by another party leader as the State party president, said a source.
