Imphal, July 08 2014:
Four leaders of the State unit of BJP were suspended from the primary membership of the party for indulging in anti-party activities on Tuesday.
The suspended Manipur BJP members are former vice-presidents of the party Salam Rajen and Yumnam Khemchand, and Naoroibam Ratan and Mongjam Poireihanba.
Hailing from Lamshang Assembly Constituency, Salam Rajen is a former Minister, while Khemchand hails from Singjamei Assembly Constituency.
Naoroibam Ratan and Mongjam Poireihanba, both executive members, respectively belong to Heingang and Lamlai Assembly Constituency.
Announcing suspension of the four leaders during a press meet at the party office here today, State unit BJP spokesperson Salam Ibohal, who was flanked by party secretary N.Nimbus, pointed out that when people cutting across 28 states of India and union territories are congratulating and lauding the BJP under Narendra Modi for its landslide victory in the 16th Lok Sabha poll, these four BJP leaders from Manipur were found busy lobbying the Central BJP leaders to remove the incumbent party president Th Chaoba, who has been re-elected for the tenure of 2013-2015."Such lobbying amounts to anti-party activity," Ibohal said.
