The Khwairakpa Eerel (Narandor) Umanglai Iraatpa ceremony will be held on January 1, the second sunday of the Meetei lunar month Wakching.
The Khwairakpa Eerel Umanglai Ngaksellup will be organising the prayer ceremony along with deploying 100 volunteers to assist the worshippers on the day.
The abode (Khufam) which is located in a small island in the Barak River is eroding due to frequent flooding in the past years and the religious ceremony is being held at a foothill near the island since 2005.The place is located at a distance of around 10 km from the Fulertal port.
The only way to the place is through journey of three hours on conventional boats and one hour on motor boats.
The religious ceremony will go on from 8 am till 4 pm.
The organising committee appealed to the worshippers to don traditional dresses only.
Security personnel and a medical team of Lakhipur Block Public Health Centre will assist the organisers for smooth conduct of the ceremony.
In the past, the religious ceremony used to be held on every Sunday of the Meetei Lunar month Wakching.
