Tensions erupt following CM's inauguration of Thoubal Market Complex

Tensions over the Thoubal Market Complex have erupted of late in Thoubal following the inauguration of the Market Complex by Chief Minister O Ibobi on December 24 last.
Consequently CrPC 114 has been imposed in the area.
A press conference regarding the incident was also held at Manipur Press Club today organized by the Thoubal Kanba Lup and Prosperous Committee for Dukan Plots and Market Vendors Seats at New Thoubal Market Complex.
Addressing media persons on the occasion, L Kunjabati, Coordinator, Thoubal Kanba Lup, said that one O Roben of the organization had filed an RTI application to furnish the number of plots to be allocated to the public and the amount of compensation to be paid to those affected by the construction of Thoubal Market, but no response has been made available till date by the concern authority.
She further said that despite the government failing to give any response to the various queries regarding the Market Complex, the Chief Minister unexpectedly inaugurated the Market Complex on December 24 .
The Prosperous Committee for Dukan Plots and Market Vendors Seats at New Thoubal Market Complex was not even allowed to submit a memorandum to the CM on the inaugural day.
She also said that the Thoubal Kanba Lup and Prosperous Committee for Dukan Plots and Market Vendors Seats at New Thoubal Market Complex later published news regarding the Thoubal Market Complex in the local media for which the Thoubal Municipal Council and the Thoubal Keithel Apunba Nupi Lup threatened her, leading to rising tensions among the people of that area.
Even though CrPC 144 has been imposed in Thoubal district in view of the rising tension, members of the Thoubal Municipal Council and Thoubal Keithel Apunba Nupi Lup went to the extent of coming to her house at Thoubal Leishangthem, in four Gypys, further threatening her to clarify in newspapers and also threatening that her daughter would be terminated from her job, she added.
She also warned that legal action would be taken up if the concern authority fails to bring out a white paper on the controversial Thoubal Market Complex.
