Cases, TPR drop as state sees three Covid deaths

Imphal, January 22 2022: After sharp rise for four successive days, the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state declined on Saturday with 404 persons found infected out of 2230 samples examined and registered test positivity rate (TPR) of 18.1 per cent against 19.3 per cent on Friday.

However, three patients succumbed due to the viral disease in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative number of deaths to 2022.The victims were residents of Imphal East, Imphal West and Chandel districts.

Citing report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the daily update of Covid-19 Common Control Room informed that all three deceased persons had comorbidities with two of them vaccinated with the first dose and other unvaccinated.

The Control Room update also said that out of the total cases detected, 392 persons consisting of 205 males were from among the general population and 12 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) with the infections confirmed at RIMS (58), JNIMS (46) and other testing centres (300).It also informed that the positive cases from among the general population are denizens of Imphal East (93), Imphal West (138), Thoubal (15), Kangpokpi (63), Jiribam (5), Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (1), Senapati (4), Chandel (8) and Churachandpur (30) .

Kangpokpi recorded highest TPR of 49.2 per cent as a total of 63 persons were found infected out of 128 samples tested while Senapati had lowest TPR of 2.2 per cent with only four found positive out of 184 samples tested.

In the remaining districts where the positive cases, including CAPF personnel were detected, Bishnupur logged 15 cases with 17.6 TPR, Chandel (8/28.6 per cent out), Churachandpur (35/20.2 per cent) Imphal East (94/21 per cent), Imphal West (143/19.6 per cent), Jiribam (5/3.2 per cent), Kakching (17/27 per cent), Kamjong (1/8.3 per cent), Tamenglong (2/5 per cent), Tengoupal (1/16.7 per cent), Thoubal (15/10.6 per cent) and Ukhrul (1/2.9 per cent) .

As per official reports, a total of 122 persons recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours and were discharged from home isolation (82), RIMS (1), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (32) .

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of positive cases reached 1,29,661 including 1,24,845 from among the general population and 4816 CAPF personnel.

The number of recovered persons reached 1,24,500 (general population - 1,20,027 and CAPF - 4473) .

The number of active cases stands at 3139 including 2802 from among the general population and 337 CAPF personnel.

The recovery rate is 96.02 per cent.

As usual, the Control Room update said that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place along and informed that a total of 6464 D-type and 94 B-type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.

The number of Covid-19 vaccines administered on Friday was 7864.The cumulative number of vaccinated persons has reached 24,27,289 out of which 10,30,181 have received the second dose and 13,380 were administered with the precautionary dose.

As per official record, the total number of cases in different districts are Imphal West (45,755), Imphal East (28,704), Thoubal (9652), Churachandpur (10,649), Kangpokpi (2975), Tamenglong (3312), Bishnupur (9372), Senapati (2330), Ukhrul (3092), Kakching (6560), Chandel (2502), Noney (1106), Tengnoupal (1102), Jiribam (1084), Kamjong (1001) and Pherzawl (465) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (678), Imphal East (485), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (164), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (46), Kakching (116), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
