School teachers in stir mode

Imphal, October 17 2016:
Taking strong exception to the down grading of 1786 teachers, the All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA) has resolved to launch different modes of agitation.
A general body meeting of AMESTA was held today at GM Hall here with its president JR Jatungeng Engpu in the chair.
In accordance to a Cabinet decision, 1786 teachers were down graded on August 16 this year.
The general body meeting deliberated on the Cabinet decision and an order issued by the Government on September 6 .
Denouncing the Cabinet decision, the general body meeting resolved to stage mass sit-in-protest from October 17 to 25, relay hunger strike from October 25 to 28, court mass arrest from October 29 onward and launch fast unto death strike from November 4 .
The meeting further resolved to form seven-member committees for each zone so as to make the line of agitation successful.
The general body meeting also agreed to set up an action committee.
