Imphal, October 17 2016:
Casual Muster Roll employees of Forest Department who have been working in the department for the past 21 years have resolved to shut Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP) indefinitely from tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, All Manipur Forest Department Employees and Welfare Union president L Sotinkumar said that around 269 Casual/ Muster Roll employees were working in Forest Department for the past many years.
Following expiry of some staff, there are around 260 Casual Muster Roll employees.
The High Court of Manipur passed a judgement on September 23 last year directing the authority concerned to regularise the Casual/Muster Roll employees.
The State Cabinet too adopted a decision to regularise the Casual/Muster Roll employees.
Whereas the employees' Union has been demanding regularisation of all the 260 Casual/Muster Roll employees, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest selected only 128 employees on the ground that others are not eligible and a DPC is going on.
The ongoing DPC should be cancelled and all the 260 Casual/Muster Roll employees should be regularised, Sotinkumar demanded.
Until the demand is fulfilled, KLNP would be shut indefinitely from tomorrow, he continued.
If still there is no positive response, the union would be constrained to close Iroishemba Zoological Garden.
The union today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking his intervention to halt the ongoing DPC process at the behest of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Conservator of Forest in total contradiction to the directive issued by the High Court of Manipur, Sotinkumar added.
