Covid claims another life, infects 49

The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed yet another life in the state on Tuesday even as the infectious virus newly infected 49 people out of 2172 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus registering a positivity rate of 2.26 per cent.
Monday recorded 3.02 per cent positivity rate.
The lone death case on Tuesday was an unvaccinated resident of Ukhrul district and it took the cumulative tally of death cases from Covid in the state to 1938 .
Out of the 16 districts, only seven reported fresh Covid cases on Tuesday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 22.In terms of positivity rate, Tengnuopal district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 13.0 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.4 per cent.
The active caseload rose to 707, out of which 64 (9.05 per cent) are in home isolation, 121 (17.11 per cent) in CCCs, and 139 (19.66 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 44 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 28 are on oxygen support and 12 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 78 patients.
On the other hand, there are two patients on oxygen support in other CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Monday evening; 729 beds including 134 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2556 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 460 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,786 positive cases and 1564 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 455 new positive cases and 17 death cases out of which 344 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, 48 people (20 male & 28 female) out of the 49 new positive cases are from among the gener al population and one from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were confirmed at RIMS (8), JNIMS (6) and other testing centres (35).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (18), Imphal West (22), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Tengnoupal (3) and Ukhrul (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 40 patients were discharged from home isolation (8), RIMS (3), JNIMS (10) and CCCs (19).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,24,186 (general population - 1,19,842 and CAPF personnel - 4,344).Number of recovered cases is 1,21,541 (general population - 1,17,216 and CAPF personnel - 4,325) and number of active cases is 707 (general population - 693 and CAPF personnel - 14) .
The recovery rate is 97.87 per cent.
A total of 265 D-type and 75 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, 9839 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and it took the total number of vaccinated individuals to 12,54,557 which include 7,62,520 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,337), Imphal East (27,514), Thoubal (9455), Churachandpur (10,142), Kangpokpi (2782), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9170), Senapati (2234), Ukhrul (2958), Kakching (6408), Chandel (2341), Noney (1068), Tengnoupal (1070), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (938) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (643), Imphal East (461), Thoubal (175), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (42), Kakching (112), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,021 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,584 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,45,2331 tests per million population against the national average of 4,41,396 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
The cumulative positivity came down to 8.99 per cent.
