The 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector IGAR (East) launched a three days 'Kridaa Utsav' on Tuesday at Azuiram Primary School playground in Tousem sub-division.
According to PIB (DW), the event is being organised as Jan Bhagidari celebrations with an aim of promoting physical, mental and psychological well-being as part of Fit India Mission and it began with the national anthem sung by locals and unit jawans, in the back drop of flowing Barak river water.
'Kridaa Utsav' was inauguratedby company commander of Azuiram post and commandant 44 Assam Rifles joined the participants through video conferencing.
Young students including girls from nearby villages of Azuiram, Namtiram and Saramba would be competing in various athletic disciplines during the event.
The unit has already prepared the playground & provisioned equipment, refreshments and medical aid required for the conduct of the athletics sports meet.
On culmination of the sports meet, prizes both in boys and girls categories separately shall be distributed, it informed.
