Akaba commemorated on his birth anniversary

The Wakhanlon Mannaba Apunba (WMA), Kangleipak today observed the 77th birth anniversary of social and cultural activist Chingsubam Akaba today at Wakha Leima Ching, Imphal East.
The observance programme organised in memory of the late activist who worked towards reviving ingenious Meetei scripts, original Meetei religion and strengthening the brotherhood, love and harmony among the people in valley and hills was attended by president of Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (STDCM), Moirangthem Naodalenkhomba; former Minister RV Mingthing; Advocate Ngangom Premkumar and Doctor Thoudam Laiba and others.
The programme also saw attendees paying floral tributes to the statue of the late activist.

Speaking to media persons, WMA president Moirangthem Naokhamba highly praised the contributions made by the late leaders during his lifetime.
Due to his dedication and contributions in reviving Meetei Mayek, students can now pursue MA Manipuri in Meetei Mayek, he said.Akaba was a gem of a person as he not only dedicated his life for the revival of the Meetei script but also left no stone unturned to popularise Meetei religion and strengthen the bond between hills and valley people, he added.
Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (STDCM), Moirangthem Naodalenkhomba; former Minister RV Mingthing; Advocate Ngangom Premkumar and Doctor Thoudam Laiba were also honoured by presenting during the programme.
