Week-long book fair begins

A week-long book fair cum interaction programme, which is being organised by The Readers Bookstore operated by The Readers Collective in association with Ultimate Library and Coaching Institute, commenced from Tuesday at Tuibong here.
A wide-range of books meant for children, adult, academic, fiction, non-fiction, etc., published by accredited publishers of North East and Marxist literatures are available at the book fair.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, The Readers Bookstore coordinator Furkan Makakmayum informed that the bookstore wishes to get an insight into the reading habits and the kinds of books preferred by people outside the Imphal valley.
The ultimate motive of the bookstore is that books should be easily accessible and there should not be limit on reading.
The book fair is being organised to make room for critically an alysing the society through reading books and to incul cate the habit of reading and critical thinking instead of just focusing solely on classroom texts and syllabus.
In the book fair, books could be purchased at discounted rate of 50 per cent off on some and 20 per cent on others, he informed.
Interactive sessions with Dr Jangkholam Haokip on 'Colonisation, Identity and Search for peace' and author talk on 'Ei-le-Ei-kal Ah' by Thangkhanlal Ngaihte were also held on the first day of the fair.
