37,512 vaccine doses administered in Ukhrul

The District Medical Department, Ukhrul has so far administered 37,512 vaccine doses in the district, a District Covid Vaccination report said.
According to the report, a total of 37,512 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered from January 16 till November 9, 2021 of which cumulative first doses accounted for 22,482 and second doses for 15,030.Of the doses, 1190 first doses and 862 second doses were received by health care workers (HCWs) and 33,65 first doses and 2637 second doses by frontline workers (FLWs) .
A total of 11,585 first doses and 6823 second doses were administered among the age group of 18-44 years, while the age group of 45-59 years received 3771 first doses and 2653 second doses.
The report further informed that the age group of 60 years and above received 2571 first doses and 2055 second doses respectively.
Meanwhile, the district immunization officer (DIO) Dr Pamza informed on Tuesday evening that the district's vaccination coverage of first dose is 25:5 per cent, while that of second dose is 17 per cent.
He said that the department is currently setting a target of around 1 lakh doses, corresponding to the latest updated electoral population of the district.
"Earlier, the target was set for 87,663 but this had to change based on the latest electoral data/population," he said.
Dr Pamza, nevertheless, cited a challenge in the vaccination exercise, and said that not all of them are residing in the district.
Responding to a query on the status of vaccine availability in the district, he said that there is no shortage of vaccines these days.
Despite abundant availability of vaccines, not many people are responding to vaccination, he said.
