6th Amur Falcon Festival 2021 celebrated

Tamenglong, November 09 2021:
The sixth edition of Amur Falcon Festival 2021 was held at Chiuluan Village in Tamenglong district on Tuesday with Forest minister Awangbow Newmai as chief guest of the function.
The event was also attended by Forest and Environment additional chief secretary MH Khan and Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun director Dr Dhananjay Mohan as guests of honour and PCCF Dr AK Joshi as the functional president.
Eminent dignitaries including Tamenglong DC Hungyo Worshang, CF Western Circle Gaithaolu Thaimei, who is also DFO Tamenglong in-charge, Tamenglong SP MS Anupam and other district level officers also took part in the programme.
Awangbow Newmai, in his speech, acknowledged the efforts of Forest Division Tamenglong in Amur Falcon conservation and commended the forest officials and civil societies of the district for bringing global attention on Amur Falcon protection efforts.
He asserted the need to continue such large scale awareness even in the future for upcoming generations.
The forest minister also presented household products as gifts to the women of Tamenglong and a sum of Rs 20,000 to women Self-Help Groups.
He also inaugurated Barack type building of the village which was constructed at Rs 33 lakh.
Noklu Phom, the Whitley Award Winner for Amur falcon conservation from Nagaland, also attended the event and shared his experience of community participation in nature conservation.
Village authorities, social leaders, church leaders and youth also attended the Amur Falcon festival at Chiuluan village.
