State level Gaan-Ngai to be celebrated at BOAT

Imphal, December 27 2011:
The State Level Gaan-Ngai 2012 Celebration Committee (SLGCC) will be organising GAAN-NGAI 2012 on January 7 from 10.00 am onwards at BOAT, Imphal.
Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat will grace the celebration as the Chief Guest.
The Organising Committee in a press statement extended invitation to all the people of the state to come, participate and witness the rich culture, tradition, customs of the Zeliangrong people on the occasion.
The main features of the celebration will be the "Mailapmei" (traditonal fire making) followed by the presentation of cultural dances by young boys and girls from different Zeliangrong villages (Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei & Puimei) and also elders of different villages will display their traditional musical skills.
Religious rituals such as "Zoupan keimei (offering of sacred wine) and Guak pai jaomei (observing of pig spleen)", a traditional beliefs and prediction for future welfare of human beings, will also be held at Mahabali Kabui village.
The Organising Committee appealed to all Organisations of Manipur not to call bandhs, strikes or blockade which may dampen the spirit of celebration.
