Imphal, May 26 2012:
The cease-fire, which is being carried out between the NSCN-K and the government of Myanmar, will enable a number of Kukis to infiltrate into Manipur thereby creating problems in the state, RK Nimai, Commissioner, Arts and Culture, Government of Manipur, has exclaimed.
RK Nimai was speaking on the occasion of releasing the second edition of the book entitled "Meira Paibi" at the library hall of National Research Centre (NRC), Canchipur today.
The book releasing function was organised by NRC.
Speaking as Chief Guest, RK Nimai observed that Look East Policy of Indian government is being initiated as a means to deal with China.
It primarily came up following the tension arising from opening of a port at Bay of Bengal.
He pointed out that mainland India needs much more to learn and understand about Manipur.
To solve this problem, we need to write a number of books in English which deal with the issues of the state.
Dr Th Khomdon, who was also present on the occasion as Guest of Honour, maintained that the present Maira Paibis of the state are rather egocentric.
The fact that candidates of the 10th Manipur State Legislative Election easily use Maira Paibis as a tool in disbursing money to the voters of their respective assembly constituencies by promising them to construct Meira Shang, shows the egocentric attitude of the Meira Paibis.
