1208 vehicles for Assembly polls

In connection with the upcoming 10th Manipur State Assembly elections scheduled on January 28, the Transport Department has requisitioned 319 government and 961 private vehicles uptill now.
According to reports obtained from the Transport department, the requisitioning of vehicles started from January 3 last.
So far altogether 1280 vehicles have been requisitioned.
Further more vehicles will be requisitioned as the need arises.
The requisitioned vehicles are being dispatch to different districts as per the request of the concern DC.
The report further revealed that 25 vehicles have been dispatched to Imphal West district, 21 to Imphal East, 7 to Bishnupur, 5 to Ukhrul, 16 to Chandel, 8 to Churachandpur, 2 each to Senapati and Kangpokpi and 18 for Tamenglong.
The vehicles requisitioned include buses, trucks, Tata Sumos, Boleros, Mini Tatas and DIs etc.
A control room has also been opened in the Head office of the Transport Department.
A transport cell and a receipt section have also been opened at Hapta Kangjeibung and department officials are on duty at present.
All vehicles required by the election officials on duty and state police will be provided from the vehicles stationed at Hapta Kangjeibung, while the vehicles stationed at Ist MR Ground will be provided to Para military forces.
