Flying squad seizes Rs 1 lakh from MPS officer

Income Tax flying squad, specifically set up to check extensive use of illegal money in the ensuing elections, has seized another Rs one lakh.
According to information received from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, the sum of Rs one lakh was being carried around for use in the election campaign of Trinamool Congress candidate in Thanga AC Tongbram Robindro.
Though the money was seized on January 19, the source has not disclosed where and how the money was supposed to be used.
Nevertheless, it informed that the money was being carried by Robindro's wife, Tongbram (O) Priyadarshini when it was intercepted and seized by the flying squad.
Priyadarshini too reportedly confessed that the money was supposed to be used in the election campaign of her husband.
Priyadarshini is a Manipur Police Service officer.
Another source in the office of the District Election Officer, Bishnupur informed that a check-post manned by police personnel and Income Tax officials has been already opened in front of Bishnupur police station.
It was during frisking of suspected people at the check-post that the sum of Rs one lakh was seized.
