Thoubal, January 19 2018:
Reformist Students' Front (RSF) Thoubal has urged the authorities concerned to appoint a Chairman of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) at the earliest.
A press release issued by president of RSF HQ stated that after the retirement of former BOSEM Chairman, M Laxshmikumar (IAS) on August 27 last year, the State Planning and Education Department Principal Secretary Vineet Joshi has been the Chairman in-charge till date.
It lamented the delay of the State Government to appoint a Chairman of the Board for such a long time.
According to an order issued by Directorate of Education Director, Th Kirankumar, on January 5, the concerned ZEOs were advised to deal with the issues regarding unrecognised private schools and further advised the unrecognised schools to invite applicants for admission before January 15 .
Meanwhile, The Eastern Blooming School in Ukhongshang under ZEO, zone III Thoubal, was recognised by Education Director A Shamungou on January 20, 2001 and allowed the school to have classes till IX standard by BOSEM secretary A Sharatkumar Singh on December 5, 2005 .
Later, on January 22, 2007, BOSEM secretary L Rajmohon Singh recognised the school till class X standard.
However, the school is not provided with necessary infrastructure and facilities as mentioned under BOSEM guidelines, RSF asserted.
The school is presently functioning from the school founder's residence with no laboratory/library/playground and a common toilet, it added.
RSF questioned the basis and guidelines of recognition the school by the authorities concerned and further urged the authorities and teachers of concerned private schools to attend schools regularly and work diligently for the welfare of the students' future.
It further warned that it will look into the matter more closely in the future.
