Police rescue four girls

A team of Lamphel police today rescued four young girls including a minor, who were brought here by a 24-year-old youth with an alleged intention to take them to Hyderabad, from a hotel at Khuman Lampak this morning.
According to a reliable source, at around 4.30 am, Lamphel police received a specific information about lodging of four girls from Ukhrul district in Highway Hotel, located near ISBT complex, Khuman Lampak.
A police team led by Sub-Inspector M Somananda and lady Sub-Inspector Florence rushed to the hotel and rescued the girls from room number 209 .
The youth, who brought the girls to Imphal to take them to Hyderabad was also arrested from the hotel.
He has been identified as Leishipam Haoriah (24) s/o Pingshi Haoriah of Khama-som village in Ukhrul district.
On interrogation, the girls revealed that they were brought by the youth with a promise to provide education and teaching job in a private school in Hyderabad.
Of the four girls, two have passed this year's Class XII examination, conducted by COHSEM.
The girls told police that they checked in the hotel last night and they had to board a bus for Guwahati this morning, after which they would catch a train for Hyderabad on Monday.
Leishipam Haoriah told the police that he was contacted by one Ajay, nephew of the Principal of Mudra Private School, located at Secunderabad near Hyderabad regarding some vacant posts.
The youth further said that he had never been to the school before and have not seen/got any advertisement of the school regarding vacant posts.
As the incident needs thorough investigation, Lamphel police have registered an FIR against Leishipam Haoriah under FIR number 151 (5) 2015 for, said the source.
All the rescued girls were handed over to their families in the presence of the officials of State Social Welfare Department in the evening, added the source.
