CCpur cops seize 1198 gm brown sugar

CCpur, September 09 2022:
Churachandpur district police seized 100 soap cases containing brown sugar from one person identified as Seikholen Vaiphei (42), s/o (L) Thangkhokam Vaiphei of Kipgen Veng, Tuibuong, Churachandpur on September 7 at about 3 pm.
According to sources, the police team raided the residence of Seikholen Vaiphei and found two Bolero vehicles of similar colour (dark green), one bearing registration number AS01BD6554 (rear) and MN06L2907, and the other without registration.
On conducting thorough search, the police recovered 44 soap cases containing brown sugar packed in a white colour sack near the front passenger seat of one of the two vehicles.
The contraband items Weighed 528 grams, excluding the weight of the soap cases.
The two Bolero vehicles and one Vivo mobile handset were also seized by the police.
On questioning, the apprehended person disclosed that the contraband items were procured on the day itself.
As a result, he was arrested at 4:35 pm.
When the police further searched the seized vehicles, they found a chamber that look unusual.
As a result, two civil witnesses were summoned and a search was conducted at a workshop where the mechanics were told to open the chassis, during which 56 more soap cases containing brown sugar were recovered from the chamber that was cut open.
The brown sugar from the 56 soap cases weighed 670 grams, making it 1198 grams in total which is valued at about Rs 35 lakh in the international market, the sources added.
