Kikhonbou inspects Barak Bridge

MLA of 52-Tamei Z Kikhonbou Newmai inspected the condition of road and Barak Bridge at Konphung village during a two-day long tour, which concluded yesterday.
The MLA was accompanied by officials of PWD during the inspection tour.
After attending the opening ceremony of 5th Independence Day Football Trophy at Tamei HQ yesterday as Chief Guest, he also inspected Langmei High School, DI Office at Block Resource Centre, Vocational Training Centre, DIET Centre, PHC, and met the leaders of LNBA.
The MLA along with a team of 4 officials including AE Ashish and Executive Director of DRDA Tamenglong Praveen inspected the construction on Barak Bridge, which has been put on halt since 2005 due to various interferences.
The bridge was swept away by flood in 2005.It is said that Rs 2.5 Crore was sanctioned for the construction of bridge and an additional fund of Rs 50 Lakh was assured from the state fund by the Works Minister.
During the course of the inspection, the MLA and his team found that the only computer in the DI Office was yet to be installed.
The MLA also expressed his amazement at seeing a large number of students in Langmei HS.
There are 422 students in the school.
He assured to bring another 4 teachers in the school and discuss with the Minister concerned for renovation of the school and said that he would press the government to upgrade it into a Higher Secondary.
The inspection team also proposed to keep an embroidery machine in the Vocational Training Centre and accommodate 10/20 computers in the Block Resource Centre for the HS.
There is need for adequate teachers and staffs in the DIET Centre which has not been functioning for the past 2/3 years.
The MLA assured proper fencing of the centre and said that he would propose the Education Department in this regard.
There was no specialized doctor, ultrasound machine, X-ray machine and no facility for blood test in the Physical Health Centre (PHC).
One has to go to Imphal even for minor treatment.
At least a Pediatrician, Gynecologist and a specialist is needed in the PHC.
The MLA assured that the matter would be discussed with the department concerned.
The 5th Independence Day Football Trophy was organized by Tamei HQ Youth Club and sponsored jointly by SDO Tamei and 10th Dogra Regiment.
The opening ceremony was graced by the MLA as Chief Guest; Ch Poujiang, Chairman of Tamei V/A as Guest of Honor, and Col Vikram Chanden, 10th Dogra Regiment as Function President.
