Imphal, January 24, 2012:
The Coordination Committee of seven UG groups (KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF, UNLF & UPPK) in a press statement today appealed to the people of the state who have been suppressed by the colonial rule of India to support the decision of CorCom taken together with other revolutionary groups of North East India and boycott the Republic Day of India.
It stated that the joint decision of several revolutionary groups of the NE India to boycott the day was taken with an aim to jointly strengthen the revolutionary movement and also to help each other with a sense of oneness and mutual cooperation before or after the NE region is liberated from the Indian Constitution.
Assuring that the people of the North East Region are not Indians, the statement further said that people of the region have no reason to observe or celebrate the day which is meant only for the Indians.
It also appealed to the people of the state to abstain from their routine activities and support the boycott call.
However, medical service, Fire Service, Media persons and religious activities will be exempted from the purview of the boycott, it added.
On the other hand, the United Revolutionary Front (URF) in a press statement has urged the people of the state to support the boycott of Republic Day in the state as announced by the party and CorCom with many other revolutionary groups of the NE states.
While appealing to the people to refrain from participating in the function even if it is in the district headquarters, the statement signed by its Secretary Publicity and Information AK Pibarel further stated that URF will not spare those who dare to defy the appeal of URF.
