Imphal, January 24, 2012:
The Maring Students' Union (MSU) and Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) have strongly condemned the firing on civilians at Machi Village which resulted to the injury of four innocents and attacking of civilians at Langol which left one injured on January 22 by volunteers of a party.
Positing that the Maring people have the right to elect their leader, a statement issued by the president of MSU and Secretary of MNY has contended that obstacles to that effect should be dealt with.
The statement also added that any political party that ignores the interest of the Maring people should leave the territory of the Marings immediately or else face the unforseen circumstances.
The two civil organisations have also appealed the authority concerned to flush out miscreants who resorted to the use of arms in the forthcoming elections.
