ASHAs to be equipped with cell phones

To better equip the Accredited Social Health Agents (ASHAs) of the state in executing their work in delivering basic health services to the women and children in far flung areas of the state, the ASHAs will be provided with mobile phones under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) .
According to a source from the Family Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, ASHAs of the state will be equipped with accessories required to render various services to the pregnant women and new born babies.
These include raincoats and torch lights, apart from mobile phones.
There are at present 3878 ASHAs in the state.
Among these ASHAs, 431 are in Imphal East, 365 in Thoubal, 329 in Imphal West, 235 in Bishnupur, 302 in Ukhrul, 550 in Chandel, 627 in Churachandpur, 787 in Senapati and 252 in Tamenglong district.
The ASHAs have been already provided with Lantern, Apron, Umbrella, Dairy, Radio, Bicycle and kit bags under NRHM.
