Thoubal, January 19 2018:
As a part of its continuous movement for a better society, The United Progressive Club (UPC), Thoubal district conducted an inspection at Wangjing High School, only to take stock of the poor condition of the school.
A press release issued by general secretary of the club stated that the members of UPC found insufficient number of teachers and staff as well as lack of proper toilet facilities and fencing in the school.
Earlier, the school used to have 12 teachers in total, however, four teachers were transferred when the school session began and one teacher, out of the remaining eight, will retire soon, it added.
In view of frequent theft cases in the school, the school headmaster had to employ a chowkidar by providing a fee of Rs 5000 per month from his pocket money, the United Progressive Club said.
UPC mulled the system of teaching/managing a total of 250 students by only seven students and wondered if there are any hidden agenda of the State Government by keeping the sole Government School of the area in such a poor state.
The United Progressive Club urged the State Government and the Education Department to look into the matter and take necessary steps at the earliest and further warned that the club along with the locals would launch stringent agitation if the condition of the school is not improved at the earliest.
The club further assured to visit other schools and Colleges in Wangjing area and appealed to the respective teachers and staff to be punctual.
