Assam Rifles organises 'Vijay Diwas'

Assam Rifles celebrated 'Vijay Diwas' yesterday at different places by different units posted there.
Remembering the unparalleled grit, valour and determination of the Indian Armed Forces who made victory over Pakistani Armed Forces in 1971 war resulting in 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendering to Indian Armed Forces, the day is celebrated every year as 'Vijay Diwas' all over the country.
The result of 1971 war was also a testimony of hundreds of brave soldiers especially from the North-East states who force Pakistan force to bow down in front of our army.
44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector Assam Rifles organised a befitting celebration at Tamenglong.
The event was attended by the civil administration led by DC Tamenglong, Police, CRPF representatives and CSOs from all walks of life.
The martyrs were remembered and honoured by a wreath laying in the morning followed by weapon display in the afternoon, which saw huge number of youth showing inquisitive and enthusiastic interest.
The venue also had other informative stalls on benefits and schemes for Ex-servicemen, how to join Army, COVID awareness and local handicrafts.
Pipe and jazz band rolled out patriotic songs for locals creating nationalistic flavour in this far flung town.
Troops of Assam Rifles organised weapon, equipment and band display in connection with Vijay Diwas for the youth and students of Churachandpur, Pherzawl and Bishnupur districts, today.
The event was conducted with an aim to highlight the significance of Vijay Diwas and also to educate the students about Assam Rifles and simultaneously instill a sense of pride and faith in the custodians of national security.
The strength and peculiarities of Assam Rifles was also showcased during the weapon and equipment display which included wide array of new generation weapons, surveillance equipments and various sophisticated weapons.
The pipe band display mesmerizing martial music tunes to the audience.
On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball tournament in the frontier villages of Molcham, Khengjang and Phaisanjang.
The event, which was aimed at bringing together the local communities to join the nationwide fitness and wellbeing movement along with bringing joy and happiness to the local community during the festive season of Christmas, witnessed an overwhelming participation from young boys and girls.
Noney Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General of AR (east) organised a Covid-19 awareness drive and lecture on career opportunities for youth at village Rangkhong, Noney District yesterday.
The awareness drive was organised to educate the youth about procedure for joining the Indian Army and Assam Rifles and the valour and sacrifices made by the armed forces and immense contribution towards nation building.
