Two more succumb : Positive cases maintain downward trend

Even though the State recorded two more COVID-19 deaths during the last 24 hours taking the official death toll to 329, daily positive cases have been declining since the last couple of days.
However, the death of any army Colonel, a 42-year old man from Imphal West and a 76-year old woman who expired at Shija Hospital on December 10 have not yet been accounted in the official tally.
Two males aged 50 and 44 hailing from Thoubal and Kakching expired at Raj Medicity and JNIMS Hospital respectively during the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
In the meantime, 81 people including three personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Grace Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, Public Hospital, Kakching, Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Noney and Babina Diagnostics.
The 78 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (20), Imphal East (18), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (17), Ukhrul (4), Tamenglong (10), Noney (1) and Churachandpur (3) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 227 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (14), home isolation (150), RIMS (15), JNIMS (20), CCC UNACCO (4), Shija Hospital (8), RD Wing (3), Kakching (1), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (2), Bal Bhavan (6), Thoubal (1), Kasom Khullen (1) and Tamenglong (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 27,373 (general population 24,061 and Central security personnel 3,312) .
It includes 1,937 active cases (general population 1,735 and Central security personnel 202) and 25,107 discharged cases (general population 22,001 and Central security personnel 3,106) .
The recovery rate as on Wednesday is 91.72 per cent.
