The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West released Elangbam Joykumar, executive member of Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) upon furnishing a PR bond of Rs 75,000 today.
Elangbam Joykumar had filed a bail application before the Court after he had been lodged in judicial custody from August 8 following his arrest along with Leishangthem Pratap, the co-convener of the JAC formed against the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana.
The Court went through the bail petition filed by Elangbam Joykumar through his counsel and the bail objection report submitted by the IO of the Imphal PS and passed an order for releasing Joykumar on bail after executing a PR bond of Rs 75,000 .
It may be mentioned that all together 14 JAC and TUC members, including three women, are presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa and Manipur Central Jail Imphal after they were arrested for imposing bandh and burning effigy of Chief Minister N Biren during the protest.
It may also be recalled that the JAC had called for a 48 hours bandh from 6 am of September 2 to 6 am of September 4 if the Government fails to fulfil its demands by today.
The JAC's demands included unconditional and immediate release of the arrested JAC members, handing over the case of Babysana to the CBI and furnishing proof of handing over the case to CBI.
