Imphal, January 22, 2011:
Police's investigation into the gold theft case in which gold worth of around Rs 25 lakh were stolen from the house of Soubam Nilladhaja @ Inaobi on January 12 night is doubtful, said the Konjeng Hajari Leikai Development Committee today.
In a press note signed by its secretary, L Gopal, stated that Imphal Police rounded up Laishram Dasumati wife of late Khwairakpam Gouradas from Khangabok Mayai Leikai in connection with the case.
The woman is residing at a rented house at Khwairakpam Leikai and a domestic helper of Inoabi.
Casting a doubt of some other persons colluding with Dasumati and no further action to nab other suspects in the case, they are unsatisfied with the progress of the police investigation the statement said adding that there is a possibility of high ranking officials backing the suspects and giving interference in the investigation.
Laishram Dasumati who was released on bail was the prime suspect of the case since she knows every nook and corner of the house as she was a domestic helper of the house, Gopal said in the statement appealing to the Police Department to investigate the matter sincerely and find the real thieves at the earliest.
