MCDA ask wholesaler to admit for selling uncertified medicines

The Manipur Druggists and Chemists Association (MCDA) appealed to the doctors of the state not to prescribe any uncertified medicines to a patient.
It also asked a wholesaler who sell uncertified medicines in the state.
In a press meet held at its office at Rupmahal Tank, Dr RK Ratankumar, general secretary of the association said that many pharmacies in and around Imphal city are selling medicines whose compositions are not certified.
The association found that four medicines which are sold by one Sagolshem Surjit, Bheigyabati Pharmacy at RIMS Road are not certified and their compositions are also found to be not conformant.
The four medicines which were found to be noncompliant with the certified standard were Glace-AD Capsule, Glace-L Syrup, TX injection and FolCare syrup.
He said that Becadexamin capsule which has standard compositions cost only Rs 23.75 while Glace-AD cost Rs 570.The four medicines should be made by Glaxo Smithkline.
But the present products available in the market are produced by one Joltek Private Limited.
There are no logos of the company on the covers of the products.
Dr GS Moirangthem of RIMS Surgery department and doctors in OPD duty are prescribing the medicines to its patients.
Sagolsem Surjit of Bheigyabati Pharmacy who is supplying the medicines is asked to detailed reports of the medicines to the association within five days failing which, legal actions will be taken against him, said Ratankumar.
Lamphel Pharmacy and Revolter Pharmacy who were found selling the medicines are suspended from the association.
He appealed to the doctors to stop prescribing the said four medicines to their patients.
He also appealed to check the conformity of the composition and company of the medicines before accepting and prescribing them to their patients.
He also appealed to the people to stay aware from fake medicines like Livsaf, Zymex and Heporange which imitate original and certified medicines Livsav, Xymex and Dexorange respectively.
Such fake medicines make its covers exactly as same with original products and mislead the people.
Ratankumar also appealed to the wholesalers of around 350 unethical companies in the state to submit their necessary documents to convert themselves into ethical companies.
