Students stage black badge protest

Students' black-badge protest showing solidarity to the demand for booking of murderer(s) of the BSEM chairman, N Kunjabihari have launched from today.
The protest was a part of the students' solidarity to the demand of the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the murder of the BSEM chairman pressing the state government to book the culprit(s) involved in the murder case, said volunteers of the AMSU, DESAM and MSF initiating the campaign today.
Volunteers of these three students' bodies are joining hands in initiating students of different schools in wearing black-badge.
Today, on the first, they conducted the campaign at DAV Public Higher Secondary School, Sangaiporou, Yumsung Academy, Chingmeirong, MBC Higher Secondary School, Chingmeirong and Tiny Tot Unique School, Deulahland.
While wearing the badge, students also shouted slogans, "Killing Kunjabihari is like killing students".
With regard to the protest launched by them, DESAM general secretary Arambam Thoithoi said that it was part of support extended by the student bodies to the JAC formed in connection with the murder of Kunjabihari.
They have decided to support to any kinds of protest JAC is to undergo demanding justice in the case.
A series of protest has been planned, Thoithoi said adding that students of schools located in Imphal east and west will also stage a sit-in protest in their respective schools on January 24 and students of schools in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts will follow the same suit on the next day.
If no positive response could be get from the state government despite the series of protest, they will intensified their protest from January 27, Thoithoi announced while giving a briefing to reporters in which AMSU's human resource development secretary Diapjit Ningthoujam and MSF's joint secretary Lucky Konsam also attended.
