Imphal, July 05 2012:
Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi has pressed for CBI probe into the killing of three Manipuris by Army personnel after being abducted from Dimapur.
Moving a calling attention motion in this regard on the floor of the Assembly today, Dr Ibohalbi said that Rk Roshan of Tera Sayang Pukhri, Th Prem of Langol Laimanai and Th Naobi of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai were reportedly abducted by Army personnel and killed in Dimapur.
No exact informations have been received about the incident so far but the incident has been reported in media.
There is also media report which says that the three persons were taken to Assam and later killed there, the MLA added.
Questioning why the Manipur Police have not taken up any case in the regard, the MLA demanded the case be handed over to the CBI for thorough investigation.
He also demanded to know whether the governments of Assam and Nagaland have taken up any investigation into the incident.
Responding to the calling attention motion, Home Minister Gaikhangam informed the House that enquiry has been going on in the court of the Army and the Manipur Police Department has also taken up investigation in the incident.
The report of the investigation would be made known to the public.
So, since the Army court and the State Police are investigating into the case, it would be too early to hand over the case to CBI.
