Imphal, July 05 2012:
The ongoing State Assembly Session would be taking up the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system for discussion.
According to an official source, the issue, however, will not be brought up for discussion tomorrow because the PIL which was filed in the Gauhati High Court in connection with ILP was withdrawn just yesterday and there is legal validity of the case for another three days.
So, the discussion is most likely to be brought up by next week.
The source further revealed that the issue would be brought up for discussion on the floor of the House as a private member resolution by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi.
A notice has already been forwarded to the Assembly Secretariat in this regard.
Consequently, the government is learnt to have started consulting legal experts in this connection.
The government is also considering the feasibility of bringing up the issue as a Bill.
If brought up as a Bill, it would be easier to pass it.
If the Bill is passed by the House, then everything possible would be made for its implementation at the earliest, the source added.
