Imphal, July 05 2012:
Marathaka Usami, a 25-year old motoring enthusiast from Japan proved that an old model car can be used for longer drives.
He reached here yesterday on a limited edition vintage car of Dutsan made (now Nissan) called Blue Bird on a car tour of Eurasia continents.
His friend Nagai started the trip on January 31 last from London and drove all the way from there to Delhi.
Although Nagai went back to Japan for continuing his study, Usami continued the tour from Delhi since June 19 last.
It is said that the vintage care owned by Nagai's father for the last 40 years was shipped from Japan to London.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here today, Usami informed that the main objective of the tour is to write a travelogue about the experiences and people met along the journey and convey the same to the people at Japan.

The tour is being sponsored jointly by the Japanese Embassy at Delhi and Nissan.
Usami said that he found the people of North East region quite cooperative and supportive more than the mainland people.
He learnt about the culture of the region before the tour and found the food quite tasty here.
"I feel familiar here", Usami added.
Sharing about his experiences, Usami informed that while in NE region, he learnt about to new things.
The first thing is that he came to know that the Second World War cemeteries at Kohima and Imphal are of the soldiers from his hometown Nigata.
The second thing is that some cars he noticed here resemble the military cars designed by Harateiichi, the Nissan designer.
Usami would stay here for a week as a guest of Raag Keisham, Proprietor of PK Agency at MG Avenue and he wishes to visit the war cemeteries, Loktak Lake and few other tourist spots before leaving for Ho Chi Min city in Vietnam.
