SDSA organises sanitization drive

The Senapati District Students' Association
(SDSA) and district administration for saniti-
zation of Senapati DHQs river, during the 2nd
phase of the 'Sanitization of Senapati DHQs
River' drive today demolished temporary
structures along the tributary of Barak river like
public toilets and pig sty with outlets connected
to the river.
Earlier, a notice was served by the
district administration to the local residents that
structures that are polluting the river bed shall
be demolished, a statement informed.

Kabib, NPO president Moses Kamba,
SDSA president Pungdi Celestine, SDOs,
colony leaders took part in the 2nd phase of
the drive held today.
During the exercise, many concrete toilets
were marked and notified for eviction within
a week's time.
The DC also noted certain
improper drainage from the town leading
into the river and has urged the local resi-
dents not to drain waste materials and
effluents into the river.
The illegal concrete structures along the
river bank, the Deputy Commissioner and
the civil bodies observed, may escalate flood
situation and divert water into areas where
river embankments are not constructed.
Many such structures were marked with red
colour to notify the house owners.
