Ban on Miss Manipur contest lifted

With the necessary rules and regulations finally drawn up, the ban on holding Miss Manipur contest has been lifted.
Notably, the last Miss Manipur contest was supposed to be held on November 12, 2012 but as many as 42 civil society organisations came out with a decree which banned the same contest as they found the attires worn by the contestants too obscene and indecent.
Nonetheless, the civil society organisations constituted a preparatory committee to draw up necessary rules and regulations for future Miss Manipur contests.
The preparatory committee submitted a set of recommendations and the same were deliberated today during a joint meeting of PPCM, Kanglamei, CHITUWA, Poirei Leimarol and AMKIL.
The meeting agreed to adopt 11 points from amongst the recommendations which would serve a guidelines for holding Miss Manipur contests.
The meeting also constituted an advisory committee which must be consulted by all organisers of Miss Manipur contests.
