The BJP also urged the voters to exercise their voting rights judiciously and elect good leaders of the State.
Attacking the Congress, the BJP said that it (Congress) has been spreading canards and trying to portray the BJP as an anti-Christian political party, which is not true at all.
MLA Kh Joykisan who turned up as the chief guest of a one day BJP political awareness programme held at Town Hall Phungreitang, launched a scathing attack on the Congress Government, dubbing it corrupt and inefficient.
The people now no longer expect anything from the Government which is deep rooted in corruption, he alleged.
For Manipur to progress, the Congress must be uprooted from the State and the BJP should be given the chance to lead the people, he added.
ADC Member HA Vareishang in his welcome speech said that the BJP had nearly become defunct in the district but with two of its candidates emerging victorious in the by election held last year, the BJP is now on a strong turf and is well placed ahead of the coming Assembly election.
It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who nominated Mary Kom to the Rajya Sabha and this shows that the party does not discriminate on the basis of community.
Mary Kom belongs to one of the smallest communities in Manipur, he reminded.
BJP spokesperson Soso Shaiza emphasized on the objective of the party and added that BJP respects all religion and is secular.
BJP believes in decentralization of power and economy for ensuring clean governance, she added.
