Even though the State government has not been able to arrest Samson Remei, President of UNC and David Choro, President of ANSAM for the indefinite economic blockade imposed in 2010, how effective the recent announcement of the State government to declare Livingstone, a cadre of NSCN-IM, as wanted with a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head to anyone who can provide information leading to his arrest, is not known.
Samson Remei and David Choro were declared Wanted by the State Government in 2010 for the indefinite economic blockade imposed along the NH-2 and NH-37 in protest against the election to Autonomous District Councils in the five hill districts.
The declaration was made after a PIL was filed by one RK Jayson in the Gauhati High Court.
The court had also informed the concerned authorities and the police to produce the duo before it.
Accordingly, the State government announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh each to anyone who can provide information about the whereabouts of Samson Remei and David Choro.
Subsequently, the Manipur Police approached the court and the Gauhati High Court also issued arrest warrants for Samson Remei and David Choro.
