Abducted sisters rescued, abductors in cops' net

Imphal, June 18 2012:
Senapati District Police have rescued the two abducted sisters namely Veikhe (48) w/o Daya and Veine (35) w/o Satlam from Thangbuh village under Saparmeina Police Station on June 17 at around 2.30 pm.
Informing this in a statement, SP Senapati said that acting on reliable information, a cordon and operation was launched at Thangbuh village by teams of Kangpokpi and Saparmeina Police Stations led by Addl SP-Kangpokpi Md Jackiruddin under overall supervision of SP/Senapati Pushpanjali yesterday at round 1.30 pm.
The two abducted women were rescued from a house in the operation.
Subsequently the accused abdcutors, namely Yumnam Soni Kumar (46) s/o Joykumar of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Imphal West, Sylvia Kom (41) w/o Joykumar and Khwairakpam Sanatomba alias Manichandra alias Tomba (40) s/o late Angangyaima of Sekmai Bazar Imphal West were arrested from Sekmai by a team of Imphal West Police Commandos led by Addl SP N Herojit Meetei, the SP informed, adding that the arrested accused persons also engaged members of particular UG group in the abduction.
Efforts to nab the other accused persons are on.
The main motive behind the crime was related to a land dispute.
During the whole operation, the safety of the abducted women was given the paramount importance, the SP added.
