The All Tribal Disables' Union, Manipur (ATDUM) today clarified that its president Momo Tantanga is not a self styled president and he is not working for personal gain in the name of the union as alleged by Senapati Disables' People Association Manipur (SDPAM) and Association of Persons with Disabilities (APWD), Ukhrul.
A statement issued by ATDUM's administrative secretary, Ningmuanching; finance secretary, Khamgonglung and assistant administrative secretary, RN Apollos said SDPAM and APWD are two separate entities and have no rights to comment or interfere against ATDUM.
It pointed out that under the leadership of Momo Tantanga, the ATDUM has organised general conference at Senapati headquarters and held a quiz competition at Chandel in 2007 .
It also conducted assessment camps for issuing disability certificate at Chakpikarong, Chandel headquarters, Tadubi, Jessami, and Moreh in collaboration with Social Welfare department apart from organising World Disabled Day at Ukhrul hqtrs, Tamenglong hqtrs and Chandel hqtrs.
Awareness camps on rights of disability were held at Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul in 2010 besides taking up some legal initiatives like demand of 3% reservation in every post.
