Imphal, June 13 2012:
All Manipur Diesel Auto Owners' and Drivers' Welfare Association, Manipur has objected to the move of the government to ply semi-low floor buses along three routes with effect from June 14 .
In a statement, President of the Association Ch Sanajaoba Singh observed that the operation and service of diesel autos has been providing livelihood to many unemployed people of the state and the Transport Department have been providing the required documents and route permit.
However, the livelihood of these poor and unemployed drivers' would be snatched away by the government with diversification of the routes of semi low floor buses.
Pointing out that educated youths, to whom the government could not provide jobs, have bought the Autos either through Bank Loan or selling of jewelry items or land, Sanajaoba categorically stated that if the Transport Department insisted on diversifying the routes of semi-low floor buses, then the bank loans should be exempted from repayment and the vehicles would be surrendered to the government.
