Value of a state MLA is 18 votes in Presidential poll

With the Presidential poll slated on July 19, the value of a MLA of Manipur has been worked out to 18 votes.
MPs and MLAs of the country will vote to elect the next President of India.
According to Article 52(2) of Indian Constitution, the value of a MLA is defined by dividing the total population of the state by the total number of Assembly seats and then dividing the value by 1000 again.
The vote value of the MLAs will be defined as per the population registered in the census of 1971 .
With value of each MLA defined at 18 votes, the total vote value of Manipur is 1080 after multiplying the value of a MLA and the total number of MLAs.
While, Manipur has a vote value of 18 per MLA, Uttar Pradesh MLAs have highest vote value in the country with 208 votes per MLA.
Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand follow with 176 vote value per MLA.
On the other hand, Sikkim is at the bottom with only 7 vote value per MLA.
Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have vote value of 8 per MLA while Nagaland has 9 vote value for its MLAs.
Having a total Assembly seats of 4,120 in the 30 states, India would have 5,49,474 vote value for all the MLAs of the country when they go to elect for the next President
on July 19 .
On the other hand, vote value of MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would be 708.The value is calculated after dividing the total number of MLAs of the country by the number of MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Lok Sabha has 543 MPs and Rajya Sabha has 223 MPs, which sum up to 776 MPs.
A total of 4,896 voters including the MLAs and MPs would cast their vote for the next President of India and the total vote values for the Presidential election will be 10,98,882 for this term.
