The Governor's Running Trophy (Best Entrepreneur's award) and AMEA Outstanding Awards have been distributed at a glittering ceremony held today at Classic Hotel.
The awards presentation programme was organised by All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association (AMEA) under the aegis of Department of Commerce and Industries, Manipur with Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Industries Minister Govindas konthoujam gracing the event as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
The Best Entrepreneur's Award was conferred on Thangjam Agro Industries proprietor Thangjam Joykumar Singh.
Under the industrial unit's flagship brand Likla a wide range of foods and beverages are being produced.
The AMEA outstanding award went to M/s Kongpal Leithong Lairembi Weavers' Cooperative Society Limited with the firm's secretary Mangsatabam Mani Devi receiving the award which was presented in recognition of her effort in the promotion of traditional handloom items.
Kangleipak Spices Industry (Machal) proprietor Thangjam Rakesh Singh bagged the Micro, Small Enterprises award in recognition of the firm becoming the first company in Manipur to produce the traditional spices and besan powder on laminated poly-film packaging system.
Department of Commerce and Industry's Officer in Special Duty (Planning) Sanasam Radhadamudor Singh was conferred with the Facilitator award, for his responsive and transparent services as facilitator for existing and prospective entrepreneurs in Manipur.
Trophy and certificates were presented to all the awardees.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Gurbachan Jagat stated that entrepreneur development is an important key to economic development of a country for presence of such enterprising individuals form the basis for generating employment opportunities.
Affirming that no state can develop without outstanding contributions by the entrepreneurs, the Governor pledged to provide Rs 50,000 to the Governor Running Trophy winner from next year.
Delivering the presidential speech, Minister Govindas pointed out that the award was first instituted by the then Governor of Manipur Gen (Retd) KV Krishna Rao in 1989 in appreciation of the endeavour and commendable activities taken up by AMEA towards industrial and economic growth of the State as well as a token of encouragement to entrepreneurs across the State.
