May Day observed statewide

As observed throughout the world, the International Workers Day (May Day) was observed in different parts of the state yesterday.
Under the aegis of All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre, the May Day observance was held at Rupmahal Theatre yesterday.
80 labourers of the state who have done their duty exceptionally were awarded in recognition of their work at the occasion.
Floral tributes were also offered to the departed souls of workers.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Thamarjit Karam said that we need to develop work culture among the people of the state and increase the productivity of the state.
With the coming of the Trans Asian Highway in the state, a number of rich Corporations will be seen in the state and if the production in the state is not able to meet the change, Manipur will be in a serious situation.
Stressing on the need for an industrial policy in the state, he pointed out that a number of industries and factories need to be established and at the same time the rights of the workers employed in the factories should be respected.
All of us need to come together and work for the upliftment of the working class.
He also pointed out that since Manipur is state rich in natural resources, we should tap all the resources and make use of it in the most accurate manner thereby increasing economic dependence of the state.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram, social activists aid that there are a number of unemployed people in the state looking for jobs.
The state government doesn't seem to care about the issue and is remaining silent while the people are suffering.
The same situation can also be seen in other parts of the country where the working class have no other choice but to commit suicide.
Delivering the key note address KH Arvind, General Secretary, All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre, said that Mad Day is being observed throughout the world as International Workers Day as this is the day when the proletarians of the world united and came out against the ill treatment meted out to them by the high class people.
In the developed countries the status of the working class is very low.
They are being treated badly and discriminated and as such the working class people are suffering like hell in the hands of the few upper classes.

Thounaojam Iboyaima, President, Irabot Foundation Manipur; Sarangthem Manaobi, CO, 2nd MR and Pheiroijam ongbi Landhoni, Principal, Standard Robert English Higher Secondary School were also present as the Guest of Honour.
