Imphal, March 20 2010:
Whereabouts of a student from manipuri studying in Shillong remains unknown since February 5, the last time his family had telephone conversation.Family sources said that Thangjam Satish Singh s/o (L) S Chaoba of Sagolband Thangjam Leikai left Imphal on February 5 in a Kingfisher flight for Guwahati enroute to his return to Shillong, where he was a TDC 2nd year student of St Dominic College.
After making a call to his family elders at around 5 pm of February 5 that he had reached Shillong, further contacts could not be established with Satish thereby resulting in some family members enquiring his whereabouts at his rented quarter near Douglas Memorial Secondary School, Shillong on February 15 .
As the family members found Satish's room locked from outside a Nepali family living in the adjacent quarter to Satish's room, the Thangjam family members were told that due to non clearance of rent the landlord sealed the room.
After forking out Rs 4000 to clear the rent debt, the enquiry party found the room occupied by Satish in disarray and some items, including a computer set missing.
Moreover, from underneath the bed three Kingfisher flight tickets were found, with the two others purchased in the name of W Tabob Devi and P Sanjita Devi from a travel agency located near SBI building, Imphal.
As the three tickets were booked/purchased from the same agency family members strongly speculate that disappearance of Satish might be linked to the two girls who accompanied him in the same flight.
Significantly, a female member of the Nepali family reportedly told elder members of Satish that on February 7 morning some 7/8 persons were seen at room occupied by Satish.
As the evening hours approached number of people at Satish's room and outside increased to about 15-20, family sources recounted while quoting the Nepali lady of describing some of the latter arrivals of sporting cropped hair and resembling security personnel.
In the meantime owing to Satish's failure to show up, the land owner locked the room on February 12 but did not inform the matter to the Thangjam family.
Satish's parents have lodged a formal complaint to DGP Manipur on February 23 with an appeal to search their son but to no avail till date.
