All set for counting votes

Imphal, February 16 2011:
The counting of votes for the Konthoujam bye-election, which would decide faiths of three candidates in the fray, will commence from 8 am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around the Imphal West DC complex where counting will be conducted.
According to the Election Returning Officer, Kh Kunjabihari, central paramilitary forces have been deployed for smooth conduct of counting of votes.
The security protecting the strong room where the EVMs are stored have also been stepped up by installing CCTVs in the periphery of the room.
The counting will be conducted in three rounds.
Each round will have 10 tables which will be manned by four counting officials.
There will be a total of 40 counting supervisors and separate media cell, he said.
Election observers will be station at the counting place to witness the counting process which will begin from 8 am.
Restrictions to the entry of people have been imposed effective from this evening at 7 pm except the officials on election related duties.
It will be in force till the end of the counting.
Relaxation will be given to the fire service, CID and media persons while entering the DC complex during the counting, he said.
Completion of counting process is expected by 10 am, Kunjabihari added.
Three candidates Dr S Ranjan (INC), K Sarat (MPTC) and independent candidate Kh Ranjit are in the fray.
