Nirman Campaign begins

A three-day Bharat Nirman Campaign, a public information campaign about the flagship programmes of the Government organised by Press Information Bureau, New Delhi in collaboration with DAVP, DFP, Song and Drama Division, Prasar Bharti members of IMPCC, YPC, NGOs, clubs and Gram Panchayats began today at Takyel Kolom Leikai.
Speaking at the opening function, MLA Dr I Ibohanbi said that the country is in the race to attain superpower.
Bharat Nirman Campaign tells that GOI decentralizes power to the village level.
But rural and hill areas are lagging behind in all respect.
If the amenities available in the cities are brought to the rural areas the country can be a developed nation.
Bankabihari, Pradhan Sangaiprou Mamang Gram Panchayat who spoke as guest of honour said that 80 percent of the population of the state lives in rural areas.
Special focus is made to develop rural areas to keep India at par with the developed nations of the world.
Unfortunately 90 percent of rural masses do not know what the programmes launched by the government meant to them.
Even the MGNREGS job card holders do not know what this scheme is.
RTI is wonderful but some persons have misuse it, which will hamper the development of the nation.
Their misleading questions create problems, he added.
Sharat, Pradhan Langthabal Mantrikhong GP said that Gram Panchayats remain in contact with the rural masses at all times.
He also said every Gram Sabha member should attend Gram Sabha meeting and put forward what they want the Government to do in their locality.
Dr Ibohanbi opened a photo exhibition based on the development initiatives in the North East.
A total of 20 stalls were opened at the campaign site.
Seven Self Help Groups displayed their products at the stalls.
