Imphal, February 16 2011:
The Kharao-Khaorui-Yairum Naga Students' Association (KKYNSA) today expressed gratitude to the people of the state, especially the Meetei community and neighbouring villages for their contribution in the KKYNSA 52nd General Conference cum Sports Meet which was held at Hongmahn village.
However, KKYNSA strongly condemned the improper conduct of police personnel on patrolling duty during the event.
In a statement of the KKYNSA, they alleged that some police personnel patrolling along the Napetpalli to Sawombung line unnecessarily detained KKYNSA officials on their way to deliver Tangkhul shawls at Hongmahn village on February 15 around 3.30 pm.
They further alleged police personnel of carrying out such kind of harassment and detention of passengers along Imphal-Ukhrul road.
Citing the act as unfortunate, KKYNSA appealed to authority concerned, especially SP Imphal East and state government, to reprimand such personnel to avoid undue incidents rampantly being practiced in the interest of the general public.
