Notice slapped to newspaper

The Tangkhul frontal organisations have slapped notice to the editor of The Dawn Tantak, bilingual daily, for an explanation over a publication of controversial letter.
In a notice served to The Dawn Tantak, the Tangkhul frontal organisations under the banner of the Total Bandh Monitoring Cell(TBMC) have sought explanation regarding a controversial letter published in its August 31 edition.
The Dawn Tantak had carried a letter which levelled serious allegation against the TKS of illegally collecting money from commercial trucks in the ongoing blockade.The TKS had reacted vehemently against the allegation and termed the matter as a fabricated story.
In this wake, the issue was recently deliberated by the Tangkhul organisations and resolved to seek explanation from the daily within 5 days, the deadline which falls on September 5 .
Subsequently, the TBMC, an interim body formed by the Tangkhul organisations comprising TNL, TSL, TKS and TMNL, had issued the summon notice.
"The Total Bandh Monitoring Cell has asked the editor (The Dawn Tantak) to give his explanation and authenticate the writers of the letter," said TKS president Yangmi Khapai.
He added: "We hope the daily give its positive response and settle the matter amicably" .
