Minister opens skill development programme

Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar inaugurated a one-month skill development programme on making of soft toys, dry flowers and decorative items at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai today.
Being organised by Luxmi Self Help Group, master trainers of different fields will impart training to the women participants during the programme.
L Jayantakumar and Theatre Mirror President Naba Wareppa were the chief guest and president of the opening function.
IMC Chairperson N Raghumani Singh and Assistant Director (IMT) of MSME DI Imphal, L Haridas were also present as guests of honour.
Minister Jayantakumar while speaking at the function said, items, which not only can attract buyers' attention but also identify Manipur to the world, must be produced in order to enhance the economy of the State.
Giving her keynote address, Luxmi Self Help Group Treasurer RK Rejia said, the main objective of organising the training programme is to give the women participants a way of earning while at home.
They would be imparted training on making of flowers, apple, teddy bear, gift items and toys during the training programme, she added.
Members of Luxmi SHG could earn upto Rs 15000 per month during peak season, Rejia said.
